Alabama Partnership for
Children Team
Gail Piggott, Executive
Director
Gail earned a B.S. and
Master’s degrees from Auburn University
and comes to the Partnership with almost 30 years of experience in
education, non-profit, government, early care and education, and working
with businesses. Most recently, she was at Alabama Department of Human
Resources, coordinating the Quality Initiatives in the Child Day Care
Partnership; and prior to that she led an initiative in east Alabama
through which business, government, education, and others collaborate to
support child care and early learning. Gail has successful experience in
educational and non-profit administration and brings energy, commitment,
and leadership to the agency.
Camerone Bassett,
Administrative Assistant
Aretha
Bracy, Kidstuff Parenting Kit Director
Aretha came
to the Partnership with a vast knowledge of state government agencies. Prior
to working with the Partnership, Aretha was Executive Assistant at the
Children’s Trust Fund of Alabama, the State Child Abuse and Neglect
Prevention Board. Her experience includes personnel administration and
management; governmental budgeting, accounting and purchasing; knowledge of
federal and state laws, rules and regulations for tracking revenues and
expenditures; and procurement of state inventory and accountability. Aretha
brings over 14 years of government knowledge and experience to the
Partnership.
Michele
Smith Piggott, Director of Public Awareness
Michele earned a Bachelor’s
degree from Auburn University in Family & Child Development, with a
focus on infancy and preschool. Michele has been working on APC
projects since its inception in October 2001. Prior to working with
the APC, Michele was Special Projects Coordinator of the Employer’s Child
Care Alliance in Lee County where she was director of the Lee County Office
of School Readiness Pre-Kindergarten program, helped to coordinate the Lee
County’s Promise initiative, supervised a team of AmeriCorps members
statewide, and worked with the BRIDGES program for 10-14 year olds.
Michele has 7 years experience in early care and education and non-profit
organizations.
Michelle Raybon, T.E.A.C.H. Project Director
Michelle Raybon
joined the APC as T.E.A.C.H. Counselor in April 2005. Michelle is a
graduate of Auburn University with a B.S. in Family and Child Development.
She has 10 years experience in the Early Care and Education field. Michelle
has worked as a Lead Teacher and Assistant Director at a Child Care Center
in Atlanta, GA. She has also worked for Family Guidance Center-Dothan as a
Child Care Specialist and as a Mentor/Basic Skills Trainer for Auburn
University’s Family Child Care
Partnerships.
Michelle’s interests include scrapbooking, reading, cooking, and gardening.
She is married and has a five year old son, Jackson.
